Abstract
In recent years, the General Superintendency of Financial Institutions (SUGEF) has been promoting a series of regulatory reforms aimed at strengthening the Costa Rican financial system. The new changes seek to ensure greater transparency, strengthen risk management, and incorporate new international standards, such as Basel III, into national regulations. However, these reforms have brought with them a series of significant challenges for financial institutions, both at the operational and strategic levels.
