Abstract
In 2024, the Costa Rican financial sector experienced an unprecedented situation: the intervention of Coopeservidores, followed by the intervention of the financial institution Desyfin. These two events raised serious questions about SUGEF's supervisory and regulatory capacity, especially because many investors were directly affected by the decisions made following the intervention of regulated entities.
