Abstract
This article reviews the global environmental situation, using information from some of the most recent scientific works. It shows what is the state of the planet and what are the strongest impacts, accumulated to date, due to the effect of economic development based on a linear economy model, highly dependent on natural resources and strongly impacted by the generation of solid and liquid waste. that produce a lot of pollution. Points of inflection of planet earth are mentioned and analyzed, indicating the expected impacts on human beings as a result of being close to, or having already reached, those thresholds, as seems to be the case with coral reefs. In the same way, the global effect that the increase in global warming has on the planet and its negative and cumulative effects on our current modus vivendi are analyzed. Finally, examples of positive actions in different parts of the world, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, are presented.
